The process of underskinning is done to ensure that the spray foam insulation on the underside of a container is thoroughly protected against wear. Here’s how our container insulation experts go about it!

Professionally insulated containers: For this project, we first planted 120mm of PIR Recticel Eurothane GP insulation between the bearers of our 40ft container, then filled the insulation gaps with fire rated foam spray. The next step was to install a 2mm galvanised sheet to create the underkinning itself, which keeps the insulation secure. This was then lapped and staggered to ensure nothing was exposed. As for the corner castings, we used pressed 2mm galvanised sheets to cover all the remaining space and prevent any gaps. All underskin in question was mechanically fixed, and the edges were finally sealed with intumescent strips.

Specialist underskinning technique: We consider the most vital thing to remember about the process of underskinning, is to cover up all exposed insulation points. We make sure all areas of the container are protected, even those at the corner posts. The technique we use ensures total cover.
