A Kent-based client required a dedicated shipping container wine tasting room that would provide a unique space for visitors to enjoy an opulent vineyard experience.
The project needed to create a practical and attractive hospitality area whilst making the most of the surrounding outdoor space. The design incorporated two linked 40ft containers alongside a raised platform, creating an elevated area for wine tasting and enjoying views across the vineyard.
The project uses two 40ft shipping containers linked together on the ground to form the main structure for the shipping container wine tasting room.
The team delivered the containers to site, allowing the client to complete their own internal fit-out. To achieve the required layout, Lion prepared the container apertures ready for the client to install the windows.
A separate platform sits above the two containers, supported by steelwork and finished with composite anti-slip decking. The client chose the decking to complement the existing RAL 7016 colour scheme, creating a seamless finish with the surrounding area.
The client finally fitted the structure with external wooden cladding, adding a natural finish that complemented the vineyard setting.
To extend the usable space, the project included a raised platform above the containers.
The steel platform structure provides an outdoor area for visitors to enjoy wine tastings with a view of the vineyard. The composite anti-slip decking creates a durable surface designed for outdoor use.
The staircase features GRP anti-slip treads, improving safety and providing a practical access point to the raised platform.
The team delivered the containers to the vineyard site in Kent, where they positioned them ready for the client’s internal works.
The project involved careful coordination between the container installation and the client’s finishing work, including the internal fit-out and external wooden cladding.
The team completed the bespoke shipping container wine tasting room modifications and platform build within 10 weeks.
The completed shipping container wine tasting room provides the vineyard with a distinctive visitor space combining linked shipping containers and a raised viewing platform.
This custom project demonstrates how shipping containers can create more than just functional spaces. With the right design and bespoke modifications, they can become attractive hospitality areas that complement their surroundings.
The combination of natural cladding, a raised platform and a carefully planned layout allows this shipping container wine tasting room to blend into the vineyard environment, creating a unique visitor experience unlike a typical industrial container conversion.
