Whilst 10ft containers are classified as non-standard cargo on a container vessel, they are popular in the domestic market as a storage container when space is at a premium. 10ft containers are regularly cut down from 20ft or 40ft new or used shipping containers, an extra set of doors are added often with a lockbox supplied and the containers are usually re-painted in green or blue. Other than the 10ft length, these containers conform with the 8ft width and 8ft 6ins height of standard shipping containers though they are also available as high cube units providing 9ft 6ins of height. 10ft containers can be fitted with standard cargo doors or with flat panel, easy access doors which have less locking bars than the standard cargo variety.
