Summer is on the way, and we are getting more and more enquiries from avid gardeners out there. Here is one of our favourite summer enquiries, together with our response, from the past few years. Fred was looking for a container to replace his worn-out shed at his allotment.

“Could you send me some information regarding a storage container for my allotment please? My shed is falling apart and I need something a little more sturdy. I haven’t got much room, but haven’t really got a clue about sizes. Thanks, Fred”

With our containers being strong, steel, anti-vandal and cost effective, you really cannot go wrong. Another excellent benefit with our steel containers is that they are weatherproof. We can actually guarantee that our units are wind and water tight for 2 years. If looked after properly, we expect this guarantee to last longer. If you are looking to keep your equipment dry then we can guarantee this with our shipping containers. But for added reassurance and comfort, you might like to consider getting the container ply lined and insulated. This will ensure equipment is kept dry (mower, forks, spades, rakes, hoes, shovels etc). Our standard ply line and insulation consists of lining the container wall, roof and cargo doors with 12mm ply over glass/wool insulation, finished with a timber stud frame. This will help create an ambient temperature in the container. We can also paint your container to blend in with your surroundings.

If you wish to utilise all of the available space within your unit, then we can offer the perfect solution; a heavy duty boltless widespan shelving system, supplied and fitted by us. Bays are supplied with 4 levels. Each shelf carries up to 400kg UDL, which would be perfect for your gardening equipment. As this enables you to keep everything tidy and organised, you can prevent equipment from getting damaged. If you are looking to access your container throughout the night, then we can also supply magnetic lights to your unit . Or, if you require something a little more permanent, we can install a 5″ twin anti-corrosive light.

As mentioned previously, we have all sizes to suit; we can even send the smaller units on a smaller vehicle if you are worried about site access. All containers come equipped, as standard, with marine ply floor and heavy duty cargo doors, making them perfect for a wide range of applications.
