Bristol is fast leading the way for innovative cafes operating out of shipping containers. Bearpit Social opened earlier in the year, serving single origin coffee from Honduras. CUPP is the latest for the city, serving their Taiwan Bubble Tea out of a converted container.

Bubble Tea has been popular across Asia since the 1980s, but has only just hit England. It was a concept invented in Taiwan, where you chew tapioca pearls (like Gummy Bears!) which are sucked through an oversized straw. The pearls are locked into the cup, and can only be tasted by puncturing the cup’s seal with the straw. The tea comes iced or hot, can is mixed with various flavours.

CUPP were among the first to bring the bubble tea concept to Bristol. Formally to be found operating out of a van, they can now be found in a converted shipping container in Quakers Friars. The container has trendy lighting and box seats made out of chipboard, so it doesn’t feel like you’re sitting in a metal box.
